Fun times & all

25 juli 2014 - Jupiter, Florida, Verenigde Staten

Quite a long read. Couldn't control myself once i started :)

So I have found my way a bit around here and what my average day looks like. I wake up early, go outside to bike to work, and everyday the heat shocks me a bit less. I bike in long pants now, with closed shoes even today (the office is freaking cold). Start my working day, filled mostly with excel tasks till now; going to be a real expert when im back. Then we go all out to lunch (we are with 5 at the office), which till now has been Tijuana flats, C.R Chicks or the supermarket Publix. Finding out what to eat, lunch as well as dinner is one of my biggest struggles these days. The fast food actually is resenting me a bit already, so I end up now and then just eating a bowl of 'rauwkost' (no idea what the word is). But lunch is the time to experiment so there is a lot of places left to discover! I tune back into work after, my 'roommate' colleague listens to classical music all the time, which I enjoy but now and then switch with some techno of my own through my headphones. I have become a real pro with holding a ball up (5 times already!), which we do in small breaks between work with one of the 2 footballs in the office (sports company after all). And that shall not be forgotten, every 30 minutes the guys have a discussion about some team from some sport, or something new they read in some sport magazine. I really gotta increase my knowledge cause I can't join the talks haha. But monday we are going to play something called 'Footgolf', which we are all very excited about. We were thinking of moving the companies primary focus to footgolf haha, but we'll see how that works out after we played. I even bought a polo shirt today at Wallmart (only place where they sell clothes in the neighborhood), since we need to wear 'appropriate golf attire'.

Again to the workday. Around 15:00 my colleague hits his limit, and he will remind us that its coffee time! All who wants goes with for a little trip to Starbucks next door (mostly payed by the company :D ). Then its the last few hours. Everyone leaves a bit at his own time, today I overslept (first time only!) so I stayed longer, ending up being the last one in the whole building at 18:00.

I bike home, mostly go to pick up some food at the supermarket and then go for a swim! The weather around 19:00 / 20:00 is perfect, sometimes Im even a bit cold after being in the water. I swim some lanes (baantjes zwemmen?) to stay fit, and then go back home (pool is right in front of it). Watch some series after, read some books, and then sleep to prepare for the next day.

However, now its weekend so the fun starts. Tomorrow I am , yes indeed, going with a group of people I don't know (via meetup.com) to a country bar in West Palm Beach, where there will be line dancing and an electric bull. Also girls drink for free after 20:00, so that kind of got me already (1 week alcohol detox is enough).

Socializing is now happening more, yesterday at one of my trips to the somewhat lower quality supermarket Winn-Dixie I met a guy. Turns out to be the store manager (though he is only 22, weird system). We got talking cause he found my accent so weird when I asked where the garbage bags where. Turns out his great grandparents are German, but when I started 'Ah Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch!' it turns out he doesn't speak it haha.He asked my number, not sure what to think of it but hey, he has a car. Tomorrow were going to the beach. And I need to make friends. Its not just the car. Plus I get special treatment at the store, he opens a checkout counter especially for me so I don't have to wait in the line haha.

A dog is moaning somewhere, seems to come from downstairs. Maybe I should go on an investigation.

Well this was a really long story, I think I should put a warning in the beginning :p And the dog has stopped making sounds. Curious.

Goodnight!

    Hoi Jinre,

Line dancing was best best leuk haha. Groetjes!
